Department of Consular Affairs
The department of Consular Affairs is responsible for issuing passports and other travel documents, the issuance of visa, the legalisation of documents and, if necessary, rendering assistance to nationals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commits itself to rendering optimum consular assistance to all Dutch nationals abroad. For some services costs are charged.

Rendering consular assistance is a tailor-made job, given the large differences in local circumstances, scope and manpower of the representations and the needs of the individual concerned. As a result of this, differences in waiting time, scope and services are in some cases inevitable.
