Visa Application Requirements

All applicants must present themselves in person.

Applicants can apply for a Schengen visa at the Netherlands Embassy if the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg or Norway is the main destination among the Schengen states. If no main destination can be established, one of the countries of first entry into the Schengen area will be considered the main destination.

Passports submitted for visa purposes must bear the signature of the holder.

COMMON DOCUMENTATION:

  • 1 completed Microsoft Word document application-form duly signed by the applicant, plus one recent passport size photograph (frontal view, size 35x45 mm). Only completed forms can be accepted. Legal guardians must sign application forms of minors;

  • valid passport or travel document. The validity of the passport should extend at least three months beyond the expiry date of visa applied for. Non Omani's have to have a valid residence permit for Oman in their passport;

  • a photocopy of the holder's page of the passport; for non Omani's also a photocopy of the valid residence permit for Oman;

  • Photocopy of medical - travel - insurance covering at least 30,000 Euro in medical expenses including repatriation form Schengen area in cases of emergency;

  • employer's and/or sponsor's letter and, for non Omani's, a copy of valid labor card;

  • Bank statement for the last six months;

  • Photocopy of booking of return ticket;

  • Business purpose: letter of invitation from the company you are visiting. The letter has to be original or faxed from the inviting company directly to the Embassy;

  • Touristic purpose: Photocopy of confirmed hotel booking;

  • Family/friend visit purpose: invitation including a warranty accompanied by a copy of identity papers of inviting party; 

 

For children under the age of 18 years:

  • parental approval signed by both parents authorizing the minor to travel (with or without parent(s)); 
  • photocopies of the passports of the parents have to be attached to the authorization; 

 

FOR STAY LONGER THAN 90 DAYS:

An application for any stay longer than 90 days constitutes a request for a residence permit (in Dutch: Machtiging Voorlopig Verblijf, or MVV) requires approval from the Netherlands Immigration and Naturalisation Service. Click here for more information on the MVV procedure.

 

General remarks

- Visa forms are available at the Embassy and via internet.

- An application will not be accepted without the required documents.

- Applicants may be required to submit additional documents. They may also be invited for an interview.

- Nationals of certain countries are required to obtain a transit visa, even when they will not leave the (transit area of the) airport.

- The handling fee will not be returned, even if no visa (or a different visa) is issued.
